Himachal Weather Forecast IMD Issued Orange Alert Reagrd Heavy Rain

Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: Shimla and its surrounding areas in Himachal Pradesh received heavy rainfall on Friday (June 28). The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert indicating ‘heavy rain’, thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in seven out of 12 districts of the state over the weekend.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding heavy rainfall, thundershowers and lightning at different places on July 1 and 2. The Meteorological Department has predicted continuous rain in the state till July 4. The southwest monsoon reached many parts of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday (June 27).

This time the monsoon has arrived in Himachal Pradesh with a delay of five days. The department has issued an orange alert for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmour and Solan districts of the state on Saturday and Sunday.

Traffic disrupted due to falling debris
According to officials, debris from drains fell on the road at many places in Shimla during the day on Friday. Due to this, three vehicles got buried under the debris near a drain on Malayana Surala Road, but there was no loss of life.

In another incident, two roads in Kangra and one each in Kinnaur and Kullu districts were blocked for traffic following rain, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre.

Highest rainfall occurred in Jubbarhatti
There has been heavy rainfall in the capital Shimla and its surrounding areas. Shimla received 84 mm of rain and suburban area Jubbarhatti received 136 mm of rain. According to the Meteorological Department, 42 mm of rain was recorded in Gohar, 38 mm in Mashobra, 34.6 mm in Slar.

Apart from this, 24.2 mm rain was recorded in Kufri and Shilaru, 22 mm in Sarahan and Barthin, 18.8 mm in Ghagas, 18.2 mm in Karsog, 16 mm in Kahu and 12 mm in Pandoh.

Meteorological department issued warning after rain
The weather department has warned of damage to gardens, horticulture and standing crops due to strong winds and rain. Along with this, there is a warning of partial damage to structures and houses weakened by heavy rain, disruption of traffic and water accumulation in low-lying areas.

CM Sukhu made this appeal
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that there were reports of damage from Nerwa near Chopal in Shimla district. He said, “I request the people of the state to stay away from rivers and streams, because after cloudburst the water level rises which can be fatal, so people should be cautious.”
