Independence Day was celebrated in the world famous Ashtamukhi Lord Pashupatinath Temple on Sunday by performing Durva Abhishek on the basis of Hindu Panchang. During this, devotees prayed for the country’s prosperity and happiness by worshiping a special lesson. Durva Abhishek is a unique tradition which has been going on for 38 years, Durva Abhishek started in the year 1985 which continues even after completion of 38 years.

Pandit Umesh Joshi, founder of ‘Jyotish Evam Karmkand Parishad’, an organization of priests and hosts in the temple of Ashta Mukhi Lord Pashupatinath, told that India was liberated from the clutches of the British on August 15, 1947, then according to the Hindu calendar, the Krishna Paksha of the month of Shravan It was Chaturdashi. Due to Krishna Chaturdashi in the month of Shravan on Sunday, according to tradition, Durva Abhishek was performed in the Ashta Mukhi Lord Pashupatinath Temple, along with celebrating Independence Day, the priests offered prayers in the Ashta Mukhi Lord Pashupatinath Temple and offered prayers in the interest of India.

Due to more months this time, or due to two months of Sawan, enthusiasm is being seen among the devotees.

In Durva Abhishek, Independence Day is celebrated according to the Hindu calendar by doing special adornment of the idol of Lord Pashupatinath only in the temple of Ashta Mukhi Lord Pashupatinath in the whole of India. During this, a lot of enthusiasm is also seen among the devotees. 2 to 3 quintals of Durva is used to decorate the idol and the sanctum sanctorum. Along with this, cannabis is used along with Gomti Chakra, green pumpkin seeds, green cardamom and mawa in adornment. Shami leaves are also applied on sandalwood paste.
