The Special Task Force was created to execute the following objectives:

  • For intelligence collection about the Mafia gangs and intelligence-based action against such gangs.
  • To take effective action against inter-district gangs of organized criminals.
For preparing the action strategy and its implementation against disruptive elements, especially ISI agents.

The units can operate outside their states also to oblige the respective state police.

How does the STF select people for the squad?

If a person wants to join the Special Task Force unit, the first requirement is to join the regular police department in any state in India.

After that, they will have to undergo physical tests for the Special Task Forces. In the case of failure of the test, they are not eligible to join theĀ  Special Task Force . But if the test is passed successfully, they undergo STF training. After completing the test, they will become the full-fledged crew of the Special Task Force.
