New Delhi. Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has given a befitting reply to Michael Vaughan. Ganguly completely rejected the statement of former England captain Michael Vaughan in which the English legend had raised questions about broadcasting according to India. Vaughan had said that the matches of T20 World Cup 2024 are being played in the morning keeping in mind the Indian audience. Due to which the Indian team is getting more benefit. And pitches have been prepared favorable to the spinners of Team India. The Indian team defeated England in the semi-finals and knocked them out of the T20 World Cup.
Sourav Ganguly said on the sidelines of an event in Kolkata on Friday, ‘Michael Vaughan is a very good friend of mine. I don’t know how the ICC helps India win cricket matches by broadcasting at 8:00 pm in the evening. I don’t know how broadcasting can help you win cricket matches. You have to play and win on the field. Even before Guyana (venue of the semi-final match against England), this team has won at every venue and grounds all over the world.’
Star batsman Virat Kohli has not performed effectively as an opener in this World Cup. But Ganguly believes that he should continue. He said, ‘Kohli should continue to open the innings. He scored 700 runs in the World Cup just seven months ago. He is a human being, sometimes he will fail. You have to accept it. People like Kohli, (Sachin) Tendulkar, (Rahul) Dravid are the legacy of Indian cricket. Three-four matches do not make him a weak player. He can do wonders in the final tomorrow.’
Michael Vaughan further said, I know very well that money is very important for the world of cricket. I understand this in bilateral series also, but when you play in the World Cup, the ICC should be a little fair towards everyone. When you play in the World Cup, there cannot be any sympathy or any kind of inclination towards any one team in this tournament. This tournament has been completely prepared for India. The final of the T20 World Cup will be played between India and South Africa on Saturday. Team India is moving towards becoming the champion for the second time while South Africa is looking to become the world champion for the first time.
