Ukrainian drones on Thursday attacked a major oil processing plant in Russia’s Bashkiria region from a distance of about 1,500 kilometers (1,500 miles). This is the longest distance attack since the beginning of the war. Ukraine also targeted two oil depots in southern Russia. It is trying to weaken frontline Russian forces by attacking vital energy installations. An intelligence source from Kiev gave this information.

The drone strike damaged a pumping station building at Russia’s largest oil plant, petrochemical and fertilizer complex, Russian emergency services officials said. The region’s governor said the plant was operating normally despite the attack. However, it has not been confirmed from where the drone was launched and what kind of device it was. The nearest government part of Ukraine is about 1,400 kilometers away.

The Kiev source said the drones flew 1,500 kilometers and targeted refineries and oil depots located in Russia’s military complex. At the same time, Moscow says that such attacks are an act of terrorism. It has carried out retaliatory actions that have damaged Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since mid-March.

A NATO official said in early April that Kiev had stepped up its drone attacks on oil processing facilities in Russia since the beginning of the year, disrupting 15 percent of Russia’s oil refining capacity.

The Ukrainian source said Kiev drones also struck two oil depots near the city of Anapa in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region. Due to which a massive fire broke out in the night. The source said both attacks were carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
