Kawardha Pickup Accident: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has expressed grief over the road accident that took place in Kukdur area of Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister announced a compensation of Rs 50 thousand for those injured in this accident, while a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each was announced for the families of the deceased.
Hearing the news of this accident, Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Vijay Sharma left for the incident site from Raipur, where he took stock of the incident site. During this, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma met the injured and inquired about their well being. Later he reached Semhara village, the village of the victims.
Deputy CM Vijay Sharma met the family members of the deceased separately. He described this incident as unfortunate and sad. Vijay Sharma said that in this difficult situation, his government stands with the victim’s family and is ready to provide all possible help.
Former CM Baghel made this demand
Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel alleged that during the Congress government in Chhattisgarh, many schemes were started for tendu leaf workers. He said that these schemes were either renamed or stopped by the present BJP government. Bhupesh Baghel said that the way this incident happened, we demand from the government to give compensation of Rs 50 lakh each to the family of the deceased.
19 laborers died tragically in the accident
Actually, recently, people of Semhara village of Kukdur police station area of Kawardha district were returning in a pickup vehicle after plucking tendu leaves. During this time, the pickup vehicle met with an accident while turning on the hilly road. In this accident, 19 laborers died tragically, while many were injured.
Accident occurred due to loss of balance of pickup
According to eyewitnesses of the accident, 35 people were traveling in the pickup. Many women and men were sitting on this pickup vehicle. While taking a turn on the hill the car suddenly lost its balance. People sitting in the front of the pickup started shouting ‘jump, jump’. After which many people saved their lives by jumping from the car.
The women in the pickup could not jump and the vehicle fell into the ditch. In this tragic accident, 18 women including a mother and daughter and one man died a painful death. After this accident, mourning spread in the village of Semhara for the victims and the dead. After receiving the information, the police and administration reached the spot and admitted the injured to the hospital for treatment. Where their treatment is going on.
