After heavy rains, landslides in Parnot continued for the third day on Saturday. Meanwhile, the affected families have been temporarily shifted to the community center Ramban, houses of relatives and neighbours. However, relief and rescue operations are going on from the relief camp and District Disaster Management Authority Ramban Camp office, Parnot.

DC Deputy Commissioner Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary said that the process of land subsidence is continuing. About 100 families along with their cattle have been shifted to safer places as a precautionary measure. Despite the challenges posed by the inclement weather, the families have been shifted to the community hall Maitra (Ramban) with relief and support services operated from the Pernot Panchayat. The administration is on high alert and is keeping an eye on every situation.

He informed that temporary relief camps and community kitchens have been set up. A team of geologists sent by Divisional Commissioner Jammu on Saturday took stock of the situation and conducted a survey and also collected soil samples from the affected area. The damage is also being assessed. Officials said the first priority is to shift the affected families to safer places, set up tents and provide medical and other facilities. And our third priority is to assess the damage caused by the natural disaster.

The administrative team under the leadership of DC and District Disaster Management Chairman Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary is monitoring the situation. It is noteworthy that due to land subsidence on Ramban-Gul road, traffic was blocked on Thursday evening. Besides, power supply in many areas including 33 KVA receiving station, three to four HTs is affected. Towers and five dozen houses have been damaged due to continuous land subsidence in Parnot area of ​​Ramban. At some places, all agricultural activities are disrupted due to subsidence of 20 to 30 meters.

Relief and rescue teams deployed

According to DC, teams of NDRF, SDRF, Police, Civil QRT, Medical and other social organizations are deployed for relief and rescue work. A control room has been set up under the supervision of Nodal Officer Camp (BDO Ramban) Yasir Wani.
