Look and design
Intex has made great improvements in the build and finish department. With smooth, curved edges and Gorilla Glass protection on the front and back panel, the Cloud Flash doesn’t look cheap at all. The glass makes the phone a bit slippery in the hands.
The handset has a 5-inch HD AMOLED display. It gives saturated colors and viewing angles are also good. You will find a 5-megapixel sensor on the front panel. Navigation can be done with onscreen buttons. There is no notification LED in the device.
The volume and power buttons are on the right side. Their response is good. The microSD card slot and micro-SIM tray are present on one side of the handset. There is a mono speaker at the bottom and the headphone socket and charging port are on the top. There is nothing on the rear panel except the 13-megapixel primary camera and flash.
Along with the phone, you will get a charger, data cable, headset, screen guard and manual. There is not much to praise about the quality of the accessories, but if handled carefully, they will definitely last. Since the body of the Cloud Flash has a glass back panel, fingerprints are easily visible on it.
Specifications and software
The hardware on the Intex Cloud Flash is good enough to deliver a fun Android experience. The handset has 16GB of inbuilt storage and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 chipset and 2GB of RAM. The good news is that the handset’s storage can be expanded up to 128GB using an SD card. Other specifications include 4G support on both SIM card slots, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG, FM radio, GPS and a 2300mAh battery.
Now let’s talk about the software. You will get the experience of stock Android Lollipop 5.1.1. Along with this, some gesture features are also present. You will also be able to adjust the display. Many motion and wake gestures are given. This handset has SOS support which is not usually seen. With its help, you will be able to send your location to the emergency contact in any emergency situation. For this, you have to press and hold both the volume buttons for three seconds.
Performance
The Cloud Flash is a capable handset. It handles multitasking with ease while in use. The interface is smooth and the display is easy to read even in sunlight. The call quality is satisfactory and we have no complaints about network connectivity. Although we did not face any problem of overheating of the phone, the phone does get a little warm while using the camera.
The octa-core processor performed well in benchmarks. The speakers produce loud sound. This was possible due to software improvements in the settings menu. It cannot be called the best for music and movies, but it does its job well during phone calls and messages. The phone plays full-HD videos easily.
The 13-megapixel rear camera takes good pictures of landscapes and macros in daylight. Close-up shots have good details. However, distant subjects do not look very sharp. The sensor performs well in terms of colors, especially in HDR mode. Performance is a bit weak in low light, as the camera app takes a lot of time to save the photo.
The video recording quality is good. You can tap and focus while recording. You get panorama, live photo, motion tracking and multi-angle view modes in the camera app. Most of the modes work well, except motion tracking. The front camera also works well, but don’t expect great quality.
The 2300mAh battery inside the handset lasted 7 hours and 24 minutes in our video loop test. Under normal use, the phone’s battery needed to be charged once before the end of the day. And it took longer than usual to fully charge.
Decision
There are no major flaws in the Intex Cloud Flash. This handset has the same flaws that we usually see in other devices in this price range. Apart from the average battery life and mediocre camera performance, this smartphone does its job well. Intex’s decision regarding design does not seem right, as this handset does not have any distinct identity.
We believe that the Lenovo K3 Note is still a better option in this price range, thanks to its better display and impressive software features.
