Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said that if the Congress’ election manifesto is implemented, the Indian economy, which is currently among the top five economies of the world, will be back among the five fragile economies. He claimed that the Congress’s election manifesto was ‘like the Muslim League’s document’ and it was the BJP’s duty to question it.
Sitharaman’s reaction came in the backdrop of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comment on ‘economic survey and X-ray of society’ and BJP’s allegation that the Congress is planning to redistribute wealth if voted to power. The Finance Minister said that this is the worst manifesto, which is not in the interest of the nation.
At a meeting with select journalists in Pune, the Finance Minister questioned whether the Congress had made the necessary financial planning to fulfill the assurances listed in its manifesto. She asked, I know they are not coming to power, but still I would like to ask whether the Congress has done its homework on the expenditure required to fulfill the promises listed in the manifesto?
