Iker Casillas earlier this day wrote: “I hope you respect me: I’m gay.” He deleted the tweet later!
Casillas married sports journalist Sara Carbonero and had two children before their separation in March 2021.
A wave of support came in for Iker’s tweet soon after his announcement online, including from Barcelona superstar and his former Spain teammate Carles Puyol, who exclaimed, “The time has come to tell our story, Iker,” on Twitter.
Casillas and Puyol have shared the triumphant stage with the Spanish team that won the 2010 World Cup and a couple of Euro titles in 2008 and 2012.
Eventually, Casillas decided to delete his tweet. A few reports from Spanish media suggest that Casillas was tweeting this “ironically”. There were rumors of him spending time with many women recently made the news.
But later the same day, Iker came up with another tweet explaining that the Real Madrid icon’s account was hacked. Here is what he tweeted;
So, the overall fuss was caused by yet another celebrity account getting hacked. In the recent past, there have been many such incidents where wrongful tweets have been made from celebrity’s accounts. Nonetheless, this kept media houses across the globe on their toes.
