Traffic has been affected in the queen of hills Mussoorie due to heavy rains and debris has fallen on the road at many places. NH 707 A was closed due to debris falling on the road below Kingreag on the Mussoorie-Dehradun route, due to which vehicles of several dozen tourists and local people got stuck.

RP Badoni, a resident of Mussoorie, said that he was coming to Mussoorie from Dehradun but due to heavy rains, heavy debris fell on the road near Kingreag due to which the NH was closed at around 11:30 pm but the road did not open until 1 am. He said that many vehicles are stranded due to the road closure. NH EE Navneet Pandey said that as soon as the information about the closure of the NH was received, a JCB machine was sent to the spot and the work of removing the debris is going on. A vehicle also came under the debris and some part of the vehicle got buried in the debris.

On the other hand, the Mussoorie-Doon road was closed due to debris near Galogi. As soon as the information was received, PWD opened the road using JCB machine. PWD EE Jitendra Tripathi said that the road was closed due to debris falling from the mountain due to heavy rains, but a JCB machine is deployed on the spot due to which the road was opened immediately. The road was closed for about half an hour near Galogi.

SDRF removed ‘floating cars’ from Ganga

On the other hand, in Haridwar, SDRF pulled out floating cars from the Ganges streams which had been washed away into the river due to heavy rains a day before. It is said that these cars were parked at a place built on the banks of a local river but after heavy rains, these cars came into the Ganges due to the water flow. The cars reached Har Ki Pauri floating where a huge crowd had gathered to see them.
