Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K arrested in the case of corruption and money laundering related to excise policy. Kavita has approached the High Court after not getting bail from the lower court. Justice Swarnakanta Sharma will hear his bail plea on May 10.
The special court had refused to grant bail to Kavita on May 6 and rejected her bail plea. Challenging that order, the BRS leader has filed a bail petition in the High Court. Kavita was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on April 11. Earlier, he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from Hyderabad on March 15.
The case against Kavita and others began in 2022 when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a First Information Report (FIR) alleging that the Delhi Excise Policy for the year 2021-22 was designed to regulate wholesale and retail liquor. The manipulation was done to facilitate monopolization and cartelization.
According to the CBI and ED, some businessmen/conglomerates in South India were benefited in this process and a part of their profits were given to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which used it to campaign for the Goa Assembly elections.
