About 11 thousand pits are to be dug in this work, out of which 6 thousand pits have been dug so far. According to the Forest Department, the fencing is expected to be finalized by the end of October, although at present the work is being affected due to heavy rains in the sanctuary area.

According to the information received, solar powered electric fencing is being done for high security arrangements in 8900 hectares in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary for cheetahs at a cost of Rs 17 crore and construction work is also going on simultaneously under this.

work will start soon

In the initial days, the construction work was hindered due to delay in arrival of material, but now the material has arrived and civil work is getting affected due to rain, which is causing problems in the movement of vehicles carrying the material. However, during fencing, the work of pole digging is about 60 percent complete and other work is also going on simultaneously. Officials say that the work will be started as soon as the rain stops and efforts are being made to prepare the enclosure for the cheetahs as soon as possible.

Statement of Forest Department official

Earlier, the villagers around Gandhi Sagar were opposing the installation of wire fencing because they were angry that the arrangement for grazing of cattle was stopped due to fencing. At present, there is no opposition from the villagers at the local level, a meeting has been held regarding grazing of animals and alternative arrangements have also been made. Now the villagers are also cooperating with us and the work is going on continuously. More progress will be seen in the work in the coming days.
