Passengers had to face a lot of trouble due to technical fault in the flight from Mumbai to San Francisco, America. According to a statement issued by Air India, due to technical fault, the flight could not be sent on the pre-scheduled time. Air India said that hotel arrangements were made for the passengers in Mumbai. The flight has been rescheduled, for which no extra money will be charged. If the decision is taken to cancel the journey, the passengers will be refunded the full amount. The airlines also provided breakfast to the passengers at the airport. Expressing regret for the inconvenience, the Air India spokesperson said that this flight will depart on Saturday at 10.30 am.
One passenger’s health deteriorated; total number not known
An airline official said that efforts were made to rectify the technical fault in the Boeing 777 aircraft as soon as possible. However, due to the long delay, the passengers were deboarded. There is also news of a passenger falling ill. According to the report, the passenger reported ill health at around 07.17 pm on Friday evening. The unwell passenger was provided with necessary help. The number of passengers on board the aircraft could not be ascertained.
The company appointed Sanjay Sharma as Chief Financial Officer
In another important development related to Air India, the company has appointed Sanjay Sharma as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). His appointment will come into effect from June 10. Sharma will replace Vinod Hejmadi. Vinod is retiring after serving Air India for more than three decades. According to the airline’s statement, Sharma has more than three decades of experience in corporate finance, investment banking and real estate sectors. Earlier, he has also worked as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Tata Projects Ltd. He has also worked as CFO in Tata Realty Infrastructure Ltd. and Managing Director, Head of Equity Capital Markets in Deutsche Bank Group, among many other positions.
