The salaries of Air India employees have been increased for the first time two years after it took control of the Tata Group. Additionally, the airline has also introduced the system of annual target performance bonus for pilots. Sources said on Thursday that the decision to increase the salary will be effective from April 1, 2024, while bonuses are also being given to the employees on the basis of performance in the financial year 2023-24.

According to sources, Air India Chief Human Resources Officer Ravindra Kumar GP announced the salary hike and performance bonus of the employees. Currently about 18 thousand employees are associated with the airline. Control of Air India passed into the hands of Tata Group in January 2022. After which the salary of its employees has been increased for the first time after two years. Last year, only contract restructuring and compensation of old employees was done. Apart from the salary increase fixed for FY 2023-24, the airline has also offered annual target performance bonus for its pilots based on company and individual performance, which will be applicable from FY 2024-25, sources said.

With the pay revision, the monthly fixed pay of First Officers and Captains will increase by Rs 5,000. Whereas in case of Commanders and Senior Commanders, the monthly salary increase will be Rs 11 thousand and Rs 15 thousand. There will be no increase in the monthly salary of Junior First Officer. Annual target performance bonus will be paid based on the performance of the company and an individual. Sources said a junior first officer who meets the expectations will get an annual bonus of Rs 42 thousand and the amount will be Rs 60 thousand per year for first officers. The amount of annual bonus will be Rs 1.32 lakh for commanders and Rs 1.80 lakh for senior commanders.
