Let us tell you that a farmer from Jhabua, a tribal dominated district of Madhya Pradesh, has earned a lot of money by farming using drip system using waste glucose bottles. Let us tell you that farming was difficult in the hilly tribal area, due to which he developed this new technique.
Nursery was built in a few days
He contacted NAIP (National Agricultural Innovation Project) KVK scientists in the year 2009-2010 and under their guidance, he started vegetable farming in a small patch of land during winter and rainy season. This farming was perfectly suited for this type of land. Here he started growing bitter gourd, sponge gourd. Soon he also built a small nursery.
NAIP suggested
Fearing that water shortages could damage his crop, he again sought NAIP’s help, where experts suggested he adopt an irrigation technique using waste glucose water bottles. He used glucose plastic bottles costing Rs 20 per kg and cut off the top half to create an inlet for water. He then hung these near the plants.
Earned so much profit in one season
Let us tell you that with the help of these bottles, he created a flow of water drop by drop at a uniform speed. After this, he asked his children to refill all the bottles before going to school in the morning. With this technique, after the season ended, he earned a profit of Rs 15,200 from 0.1-hectare land.
Other farmers of the village also adopted this technique
Let us tell you that with this technique, he not only saved water but also saved the plants from drying. Apart from this, he put the waste glucose bottles to use in plastic, otherwise these bottles are always thrown in the dustbin. Let us tell you that soon other farmers of the village also adopted it. Ramesh Baria was honored with a certificate of appreciation from the district administration and the Agriculture Minister of the Madhya Pradesh government.
