Happy World Environment Day 2024: On World Environment Day, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav launched the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan from Jhiri Baheda, the origin of the Betwa River. On this occasion, he mentioned the importance of earth, mountains, rivers, trees and plants in Indian culture. He said that just as blood circulates through arteries in the human body, rivers spread life on earth in the same way. Therefore, continuous flow of rivers is necessary.

The CM said that polluting the flow of rivers or creating obstructions in them is like creating obstructions in life. From this point of view, conservation of water sources is essential for human life. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav planted a banyan tree at the launch of Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan. He told that Betwa river originates near Bhopal. Women welcomed Chief Minister Dr. Yadav at the venue by taking out a Kalash Yatra with the tunes of traditional musical instruments.

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Patel, former minister Dr. Prabhuram Chaudhary, MLA Surendra Patwa were also present in the program. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that natural resources are a divine gift. The tradition of celebrating World Environment Day on June 5 every year started to accept the importance of natural resources and conserve them. He also quoted the statement of famous scientist Jagdish Chandra Basu. The Chief Minister said that 990 water conservation works are starting in the state from today at a cost of Rs 3 thousand 90 crore.

Activities will be conducted with public participation for repair of water structures, environmental protection and plantation at every district, development block and panchayat level. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for starting the Namami Gange campaign. The Chief Minister said that on the initiative of Prime Minister Modi, Rs 45 thousand crores were made available to Madhya Pradesh and Rs 45 thousand crores were made available to Uttar Pradesh for the Ken-Betwa-Link project.

He said, “With the big initiative of river linking campaign, the entire area of ​​Bundelkhand will be irrigated and the drinking water problem of the people of the region will also be solved. Similarly, under the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking campaign, activities will be conducted with 35 thousand crores in Madhya Pradesh and 35 thousand crores in Rajasthan.” He expressed gratitude for the initiative of Prime Minister Modi. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the origin of many rivers in the state are as important as the source of life.

Under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, the program of protecting the origins of rivers will continue. He said that activities like public awareness towards water structures and water conferences will also be conducted. The Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan will conclude on June 16 in Ujjain on the occasion of Ganga Dussehra.
