The bodies of three workers were recovered on Saturday from the debris of a wall that collapsed at a construction site in Vasant Vihar area on Friday. The wall under construction collapsed on Friday. The fire department was informed about the incident at 5:30 am on Friday.
Fire department officials said the bodies of three workers were pulled out from the debris. Two of them were identified as Santosh Kumar Yadav (19) and Santosh (38). The third worker is yet to be identified. Cranes were used to remove the debris and water was pumped out from the foundation pit to retrieve the bodies.
He said that the bodies have been sent to Safdarjung Hospital. A search operation is underway as there is a possibility of someone being trapped under the debris. The NDRF team is also engaged in rescue work.
According to the information, due to heavy rains in Delhi yesterday, the basement of an under-construction building collapsed and three workers drowned in the water filled in it. As soon as the information of workers drowning in the pit of the building was received, the team of NDRF, Fire Brigade and Delhi Police started the rescue operation.
