The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma reached Delhi on Thursday morning. The players of Team India were given a grand welcome from Delhi Airport to ITC Maurya Hotel. There was a huge crowd of fans on the streets. The players were welcomed with Bhangra on the soil of Delhi.
When Team India’s star captain Rohit Sharma and star player Suryakumar Yadav saw Bhangra being played, they could not stop themselves. Suryakumar Yadav danced to the beat of Bhangra. He danced to his heart’s content and danced so well. Everyone was surprised to see Suryakumar Yadav’s amazing dance. Even the Delhi Police were stunned. In fact, after winning the T20 World Cup, the Indian cricket team returned to their home country this morning by a special plane. Braving the weather, hundreds of fans reached here waving banners with slogans and national flags and congratulated the players. Last Saturday, in the final of the T20 World Cup, India defeated South Africa by seven runs to win the trophy. Referring to the last World Cup won in 2011, a fan said, “We have been waiting for this moment for the last 13 years. The team has made us proud by winning the World Cup.” He claimed that he has been here since around 4:30 in the morning.
Air India’s special flight AIC24WC ‘Air India Champions 24 World Cup’ took off from Barbados on Wednesday at 4:50 am Indian time and reached Delhi on Thursday morning at 6 am (Indian time) after a 16-hour non-stop journey. The Indian cricket team could not return home immediately after winning the title due to the complete suspension of flight operations in Barbados due to storm ‘Beryl’. During this time, the entire team stayed in their hotel.
