Woman asked for 10 thousand for dating preparation, then asked for more money, people said, is this a business deal?

The internet has made the dating world not only faster but also more changing. Trust is a big challenge here, and perhaps even more so, to be trustworthy. People want to avoid pretending to be someone else. This change has also generated interest in the eternal dating standards that are being discussed online. A journalist has sparked a debate on social media about people who aim to extort money through dating.

Journalist and social media activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj started with the caption, “Dating in India is not for beginners.” The debate centered on a woman who was accused of asking a man for money twice. When Deepika published two screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation between a man and a woman who were planning to meet for a coffee date, it started a debate on India’s dating standards.

In the first screenshot, the man asks the woman if she can meet him over a cup of coffee. She accepts it and also requests him to give her Rs 10,000 so that she can cover her expenses for preparing for the dating. Not only this, the woman justifies her demand by releasing a complete list of things which includes waxing, manicure, pedicure, clothes, shoes and cosmetics.

After this, the woman once again asked the man for more money (5-6 thousand). She told that she could only buy shoes and shirt with this money. She needs it so that she can go to work until her salary comes. She said that she has only 800 rupees left in her account right now.

This post has received more than 3 lakh views on Twitter. In the comments, people have criticized the dating environment in India. One user commented, “And the sad thing is that so many boys/men are ready to bear these expenses.” While another said, “This so-called dating seems like a business deal.” Meanwhile, many people questioned the justification of a man bearing the expenses of a woman.
