New Delhi. India has won the T20 World Cup title twice till date. Once in the year 2007 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, second time in the year 2024 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, the Indian team had a chance to become champion in the 2014 World Cup but Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka snatched it from India.

India faced Sri Lanka in the 2014 World Cup final. India had lost the toss. After which he had to bat first. The team could score only 130 runs in 20 overs. In which Rohit Sharma’s 29 runs, Ajinkya Rahane’s 3 runs, Yuvraj Singh’s 11 runs were included. Virat played the only good innings for India. He had scored 77 runs. India had scored 140 runs in 20 overs.

Such a record in the name of Rohit Sharma, which will rarely be broken, Virat-Sachin are not even close.

Bangladesh team, which set out to chase, achieved the target in just 17.5 overs and won the trophy. Kusal Perera and Tillakaratne Dilshan, who came to open for Sri Lanka, could not do anything special. But Kumar Sangakkara single-handedly overpowered Team India. He led the team to victory by playing an unbeaten inning of 52 runs in 35 balls. No Indian bowler could dismiss him.

The magic of Indian bowlers did not work
Team India’s bowlers had lackluster bowling in this match. No one could take more than 1 wicket. Mohit Sharma took 1 wicket, Ravichandran Ashwin took 1 wicket, Amit Mishra took 1 wicket and Suresh Raina also took 1 wicket in his name. If any Indian bowler had dismissed Kumar Sangakkara in that match, perhaps India would have been the winner of the 2014 World Cup.
