Mata Prasad Pandey has held the responsibility of Speaker twice in Uttar Pradesh. He was the Speaker in the Samajwadi Party government from 2002 to 2007. Mata Prasad Pandey has also worked as the Assembly Speaker in the 15th Assembly from 2012 to 2017.
Mata Prasad has reached the assembly seven times
Mata Prasad Pandey is one of the senior leaders of the Samajwadi Party. This time he has reached the assembly for the seventh time. Mata Prasad Pandey won the assembly elections for the first time in 1980. After this, he has won the assembly elections in 1985, 1989, 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2022. Mata Prasad Pandey has also been a minister in 1991 and 2003. In 1991, he was the Health Minister and in 2003 he handled the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
Monsoon session starting from 29th July
Parties are preparing for the monsoon session starting from Monday (29 July) in UP. After Akhilesh Yadav won the Lok Sabha elections this time, the post of Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly was vacant.
