Who is Abdullah Aljamal : Israeli soldiers killed a journalist writing for Al Jazeera in an encounter. He had kept 4 people hostage in his house. During the mission on Saturday, Israeli commandos killed Abdullah Aljamal. After this, 4 hostages were rescued. Among the hostages rescued is a 25-year-old girl named Noa Argmani, who was forcibly taken away by Hamas fighters on a motorcycle. Noa’s video went viral after the attack on Israel on 7 October. Apart from Noa, 3 youths have been rescued from Hamas captivity. The Israeli army said that Abdullah Aljamal also worked as a spokesperson for Hamas’s Labor Ministry. He died when special forces soldiers raided his house in central Gaza. During this, Almog Meir Jan (21), Andrey Kozlov (27) and Shlomi Ziv 41, who were held hostage in his house, were rescued. They were Hamas citizens.

Rami Abdu, head of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, first reported Aljamal’s death. Abdu alleged that IDF soldiers killed him and several members of his family while raiding his home. The IDF then revealed that the journalist was actually holding hostages in his home. However, it is not clear what happened to his family members. According to the New York Post, the IDF said in a statement that this is another proof that Hamas terrorist organizations use civilians as human shields.

Abdullah Aljamal, who was killed in the encounter, wrote a column for Al Jazeera in 2019. However, Al Jazeera has said that he was not an employee. He was recently contributing to the Palestine Chronicle. He had written several stories on the death of Palestinians in Gaza. Aljamal recently wrote several stories focusing on the ongoing IDF operation in Nuseirat, where his house was located, in which several people were held hostage.
