When a serious accident happened during the match, 17 cricketers lost their lives, paid a heavy price for small negligence

Many times such incidents happen on the cricket field which people are unable to forget. When fans reach the stadium to enjoy the game, they sit glued to the TV. Many times, in the excitement of playing sports, cricketers do something for which they have to pay the price with their lives. Now 17 lives have been lost on the cricket field. 11 players from England, two from Pakistan, two from South Africa, Australia and one Indian cricketer have lost their lives. Small carelessness extinguished some big stars before they could shine. Be it Phil Hughes of Australia or Raman Lamba of India, we have seen many players losing their lives during the match.

1. Jesper Vinal was the first to die due to injury during a cricket match. England’s Jesper Vinal died after being hit on the head by a bat on 28 August 1624 in a match played in Sussex.

2. On March 20, 1751, Frederick died after being hit in the face by a ball during a match in London. Frederick King George II, Caroline’s eldest son, was the heir to the British throne.

3. England cricketer George Summers died after being hit on the head by a ball during a match played in Nottingham on 29 June 1870.

4. During a match played in Derbyshire in 1972, HP Lighton died on a shot hit by the batsman.

5. Claude Wills of England died due to sunstroke during a match on 29 June 1881 in Surrey.

6. Frederick Randon suffered a head injury during a match at Lord’s in 1981. The effect of the injury was severe due to which he died in February 1883.

7. England’s 17-year-old young bowler Arthur Erlam lost his life due to a sharp shot by the batsman. During the match in July 1921, the batsman hit a strong shot on Arthur’s ball and the ball hit his head.

8. England cricketer Andy Ducat died of a heart attack during a match played in London on 23 July 1942.

9. Pakistan’s Abdul Aziz was injured in the chest during a match in Karachi on 17 January 1959. The injury was so serious that he died.

10. England’s Michael Ainsworth died during a match in London on 28 August 1978.

11. England’s Wilf Slack suddenly collapsed while batting on 15 January 1989 and died.

12. England’s Lan Foley died on 30 August 1993 due to being hit in the eye by a ball during a match. After being injured, he was taken to the hospital for treatment where he died of a heart attack.

13. Who can forget the demise of Indian cricketer Raman Lamba. On 20 February 1998, while fielding during a match in Dhaka, the ball hit his head and he lost his life.

14. Pakistan cricketer Wasim Raja suffered a heart attack during the match. He died on 23 August 2006 during a match played in England.

15. South Africa’s Darren Randle died after being hit on the head by a ball during a match in the Eastern Cape on 27 October 2013.

16. Australia’s rising star Phillip Hughes died after being hit on the head by a fast bouncer during a domestic match played on 27 November 2014.

17. South Africa’s Raymond Van Schur lost his life due to stroke during the match played in Namibia on 20 November 2015.
