Pakistan School Books: The education department of Pakistan is trying to tell the school children of Pakistan that Hindus are infidels and enemies of humanity. In the books of school children, either wrong information has been written against Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs and Hindus. Some youth of Pakistan talked to BBC on this in 2021. Their allegation was that the government of Pakistan was doing all this deliberately, so that the children of Pakistan could have a wrong impression about Hindus and Sikhs.
A girl from Pakistan told BBC that when she used to read a social studies book during school time, it was written in it that Hindu people do not respect women. In olden times, they used to kill their daughters and bury them in the ground. Another Pakistani youth told that his nephew was taught in school that infidel means one who worships idols. When he came home he asked his father if we were infidels?
Information against Hindus in school children’s books
A young man from Pakistan told that there is a book for class 11th and 12th, in which it is written that ‘The enemies of humanity, Hindus and Sikhs, mercilessly killed thousands, if not lakhs, of women, children and elderly people.’ Questioning this sentence, the young man said that it becomes clear that they are trying to portray Hindus and Sikhs as enemies of humanity. The young man said that whenever there is a conflict, attacks happen from both sides, but here only one side of the conflict has been mentioned. This makes their intention clear that they are trying to poison the minds of children against Hindus and Sikhs.
Hindus are being called traitors in Pakistan
Another Pakistani youth told that he had an eighth class book in his hand, in which it was written that Muslims supported Hindus at the time of independence. But later the Hindus betrayed the Muslims. Questioning this sentence, the young man said that any organization or party could have been quoted here, but what is the reason behind calling the entire Hindu community a betrayer?
Question on the dress of Hindus
The Pakistani girl said, ‘In the country where I have lived, my friends are only Muslim girls, because there are more Muslims there. I celebrate everyone’s festivals together, so how can I be an enemy? Giving the example of another book, the Pakistani youth said that wrong information has been given in it regarding the dress of Hindus. The person said that clothing is a part of culture, to what extent is it appropriate to talk about banning it?
