Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill took Team India to 67 runs after losing their second wicket at 28 runs. Both the batsmen were looking in control. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli tried to play a ball from Mehdi Hasan on the onside. Kohli missed playing this full length ball. The ball hit the pad. An appeal was made and the umpire gave him out.

Virat Kohli wanted to take DRS after being given out. For this, he consulted non-striker Shubman Gill. In Gill’s view, Virat was out. He advised Virat not to take DRS. On this, Virat did not take DRS and returned to the pavilion. When he was returning to the pavilion, the replay was shown on the TV screen. It was clearly visible that the ball hit the bat before hitting the pad. Seeing this, captain Rohit Sharma got angry.
