What is the ‘green petrol-diesel’ of the future, almost zero side effects on the environment, India has this treasure in abundance! – What is green hydrogen, minister Hardeep Singh Puri termed it the future of fuel, how is India going to produce it

New Delhi. Union Minister Hardeep Puri talked about green hydrogen in a recent TV program. He called it the fuel of the future. He said that green fuel (fuel prepared from renewable energy) will be available at the price of fossil fuel (petrol-diesel) if not today then tomorrow and this is going to happen soon. But what is green hydrogen or green fuel? Why is it being promoted? What is its future in India? Many such questions must be coming to people’s mind.

Today you will get answers to all these questions here. Starting with the first and basic question, what is green hydrogen? To know what green hydrogen is, it is important to first understand what hydrogen is. Hydrogen is a gas that is available in abundance in the atmosphere. 75 percent of the total mass of our universe is hydrogen. It is the lightest substance and a cleaner alternative to methane, which is called natural gas. Hydrogen can be used as a fuel. Hydrogen atoms are found on Earth from different sources. For example, water, plants, animals and humans.

Green Hydrogen
Electrolysis is used to separate hydrogen from water. In this, water (H2O) is split into 02 and H2. In this way, hydrogen used as fuel is obtained. This process is done by passing electricity through water. This electricity is produced with the help of fossil fuel. This means that hydrogen will undoubtedly be a clean source of energy but carbon emissions occurred in the process of making it because the electricity used to make it was made from fossil fuel. Now if the same electricity is produced from renewable energy and then with its help hydrogen molecules are separated from oxygen in water, then it will be called green hydrogen.

Why is this the future?
As we said, not only the earth but all the elements in the universe are 75% hydrogen. It is also highly flammable. This means that it can be easily used as fuel. As the demand for banning fossil fuels and promoting clean sources of energy is rising across the world, the day is not far when hydrogen fuel will replace petrol and diesel. The electricity required to make it will be obtained from wind energy and solar energy. The entire process of making hydrogen fuel will be carbon emission free or have very low carbon emissions. That is why it is being called the fuel of the future. However, a big problem in this is that this entire process will be very expensive, the solution of which is yet to be found.

what are the possibilities in india
There is immense potential for generating electricity from solar energy in India. Many private companies are working very fast in this direction. The government is promoting the generation of energy through solar panels even in homes. India has sufficient sunlight for 9-10 months out of 12 months, which is a very good thing for us in this matter. The country can produce solar energy on a large scale. Which can then be used to make green hydrogen.
