Features of SMART
It is a next generation missile-based light weight torpedo delivery system. DRDO has prepared it so that the anti-submarine warfare capability of the Indian Navy can be increased. Torpedo is like a cigar. It can be fired from submarines as well as warships. As soon as the torpedo contacts its target, it explodes.
According to the report, the SMART system was launched at around 8.30 am. During the test, it was tested on many parameters and the results obtained were positive. Defense officials said that ‘Smart’ is a new generation missile-based low-weight weapon system. A light torpedo is fitted in it and this torpedo is used as payload.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO on the successful testing of SMART system. He said that this will increase the capabilities of the Navy.
It is noteworthy that on Tuesday, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi took charge as the Navy Chief. Earlier he was serving as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff. He is the 26th Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy. Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi was commissioned into the executive branch of the Indian Navy on July 1, 1985. He is a communications and electronic warfare expert. He has had a long and distinguished service of about 39 years in the Navy. He has also served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.
