We bowled and batted well but… what did Aiden Markram say after losing the T20 World Cup

Bridgetown. South Africa captain Aiden Markram admitted that his team could not withstand the pressure of the scoreboard in the T20 World Cup final against India. Virat Kohli’s 76 runs and Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya’s brilliant bowling in the death overs helped India beat South Africa by seven runs.

Markram said after the defeat, “I am disappointed right now. It will take time to recover from this. We bowled well and batted well too, but could not reach victory.” He said, “We saw in many matches that nothing can be said till the last ball. There was always pressure of the scoreboard. It was a good match and it proved that we deserved to play the final.”

While previous South African teams have often buckled under pressure, Markram’s side have repeatedly found ways to win matches in the tournament. “Everything changed quickly at the end. But we were in a good position. We know we could have won the game. Hopefully we can learn from this and use it going forward. Even though we lost the match, it will always be a proud day for us,” he said.

We have worked hard for this for three-four years: Rohit
On the other hand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma got emotional after winning the T20 World Cup and said that his team not only performed well in the final but also worked hard for it for the last three years. He said, “I cannot tell how I am feeling right now. I cannot tell in words. I could not sleep last night. I wanted to win at any cost.”

He said, “It is difficult to tell how much hard work we have done in the last three-four years. It is not just about today, there is three-four years of hard work behind this.” He has not forgotten the defeat in the ODI World Cup final last year.
