Berhampur: Following the law is no joke, but Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M posted such a post from his official X handle that it went viral on social media in no time. In his recent post, emojis have been placed on the faces of four people arrested for attack in Ganjam district of Odisha, which is being liked a lot by online users.

The emojis that SP Saravana has put on the faces of the accused show emotions ranging from shame to shock. Along with this photo, the SP has written a simple caption, Gopalpur police team has arrested four people for attacking father and son. As of Monday, the post has received 1.3 million views, over 2.9 thousand likes, over 930 reposts and hundreds of comments appreciating the effort to add some humor to this serious task.

Saravana Vivek said that he was surprised to get so much response to this post. This is not the first time I have done something like this. I have previously posted pictures of many arrested people on social media sites, especially on my X handle, covering their faces with emojis.

SP told the reason for hiding his face

The SP said the emojis serve a dual purpose – to protect the accused from being publicly identified and embarrassed and we follow the Supreme Court guidelines in which the law prohibits officials from showing the faces of arrested suspects .

What did the users say?

A user Disha commented on x, feeling very sad. On X, users had the most fun with the third accused whose t-shirt had Good Time written on it. A user named Aditi wrote that brother, Good Time is written on his T-shirt. Someone cropped his photo and shared it with smiling emojis. One user Karan said that if you ever have to arrest me, use this emoji sir.
