The Artillery Regiment is leading the campaign

The expedition is being led by the Artillery Regiment, which played a key role in ensuring success in Operation Vijay. After Delhi, these teams are now proceeding towards Drass through two different routes. One team will cover a distance of 1,085 km via Ambala, Amritsar, Jammu, Udhampur and Srinagar. While the other team will cover a distance of 1,509 km via Chandimandir, Manali, Sarchu, Nyoma, Tangtse and Leh. The expedition will culminate at Gun Hill in Drass, which is recorded in history for its strategic importance during the Kargil war. The expedition members will contact Kargil war heroes, veterans and Veer Naris living along the route during their route, pay tribute at war memorials, raise awareness and encourage youth to join the Indian Army.
