Uttarakhand Tunnel Collapse: The whole country is keeping an eye on the tunnel accident in Uttarkashi. We are praying for the safe passage of the workers. Prayers are on for the success of the rescue operation. Rescue and relief operations are continuing on a war footing for five consecutive days. Meanwhile, NHIDCL Project Director Anshu Manish Khalkho has expressed confidence that the 40 laborers trapped in the tunnel will be rescued safely. He said that help of best technology and best technicians and experts is being taken in the rescue operation.

On the time taken for the rescue operation to be successful, he said that it is difficult to say right now. Therefore, if there is an obstacle in the way of achieving the goal, the work has to be stopped. He said that efforts to evacuate the workers are ongoing.

An accident occurred when a part of the tunnel caved in due to a sudden landslide on the morning of Diwali. The work of building a 4.5 km long state-of-the-art tunnel was going on between Silkyara and Paulgaon on Yamunotri Highway. 40 laborers from different states got trapped inside the tunnel due to collapse. Now the drilling of debris is being done again with the new auger machine. The rescue operation had to be stopped after a fresh landslide occurred late on Tuesday night. On Thursday, the new auger machine weighing 25 tonnes was brought from C-130 Hercules aircraft of the Indian Air Force.
