Uttarakhand News: Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat has raised serious questions on the uncontrolled construction work going on in the areas of Chardham Yatra. He especially criticized the multi-story construction going on in Kedarnath Dham and called it a disrespect to Baba Kedar. Harish Rawat questioned the Uttarakhand government and said that Baba Kedar has already warned about natural disasters several times, but the state government is not taking this message seriously.
Referring to his government’s tenure, Harish Rawat said that he was not in favour of more construction in Kedarnath at that time. “We used light construction material in Kedarnath so that there is no excess load on the Dham and environmental balance is maintained. Our priority was the safety of the Dham, and hence we avoided building the fourth layer of security” but in the current government all these things are being ignored and construction of buildings is being encouraged.
Government is promoting multi-story buildings- Harish Rawat
Harish Rawat accused the current government and said that the way multi-story buildings are being promoted in the Dham at present, it can prove to be dangerous for the future. “If we come to power in 2027, we will demolish this multi-story construction. He also said that the government should focus on maintaining the traditional structure and natural surroundings of the Dham instead of construction. Harish Rawat believes that excessive load and disorderly construction can pose a serious threat to Kedarnath Dham, which can cause a major disaster in future. The government should stop construction.
