Uttarakhand havoc Rain wreaks Rudraprayag Kedarnath highway tunnel damaged traffic closed

Uttarakhand Rain News: Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in Uttarakhand. Heavy rains occurred in the entire state on the night of July 5. The meteorologist had already issued an alert regarding heavy rains. In Rudraprayag too, due to rain on the night of July 5, the upper part of the tunnel located on the Kedarnath highway in the city collapsed. Due to rain, the problem of waterlogging is being seen in many areas. While a big hole has also formed in the middle of the tunnel. At present, the movement of vehicles going to Kedarnath Dham has been stopped on this route.

Passengers are travelling via the bypass motorway. On the other hand, the rain at night has caused waterlogging at many places in the city. The water level of the Alaknanda river has increased considerably due to the rain in the Badrinath area. The ghats have been submerged. The Shiva idol has drowned under the Belni bridge and residential houses are in danger.

Vehicular movement through the tunnel is closed
It has been raining continuously in Rudraprayag since last night. Normal life has been affected due to the rain. There is a tunnel of about 50 meters long on the Kedarnath highway in Rudraprayag. The front part of this tunnel broke due to the rain last night. While a hole was also formed in the middle of the tunnel. At present, the movement of vehicles has stopped through the tunnel. The vehicles of passengers and local people are moving through the bypass motor road. The work of opening the tunnel has also started. It has been raining continuously in the district. Kedarnath Yatra is going on amidst the rain. It is also raining intermittently in the Dham.

The water level of Alaknanda river increased
On the other hand, due to continuous rain in Badrinath area, the water level of Alaknanda river has increased considerably. The river has reached the danger mark. Residential buildings adjacent to the river are in danger. The statue of Shiva situated under the Belni bridge has also submerged. Garbage and big trees are flowing in the Alaknanda river which is flowing in spate. Member of Council Surendra Rawat said that the tunnel located at Sangam connecting Kedarnath Dham with Kedarghati has been closed. Due to debris and boulders falling from the hill, a big hole has been created in the tunnel and movement has been stopped. People living on the banks of the river are being asked to be cautious.
