UP by-election: There could not be an alliance of seats between Congress and SP in the by-elections of UP. Congress wanted to contest five seats. When things did not work out, Congress finally decided to distance itself from these elections.

Expansion
There are many political reasons for Congress leaving the field in the by-elections being held in the state. Congress wants political participation instead of just being at the mercy of SP. The lack of discussion on seat sharing in a respectable manner and in accordance with the principles of alliance also started irking the Congress. Congress did not consider SP’s decision to leave Phulpur seat at the last moment as favorable for itself. Because Congress would have had to suffer the long-term consequences of fielding Suresh Yadav by canceling the ticket of SP candidate Mujtaba Siddiqui in Phulpur. In such a situation, Congress adopted the middle path. Congress, which struggled for many days in the alliance during the Lok Sabha elections, was cautious this time. Even before the by-election was sounded, the party claimed five seats (Majhwan, Phulpur, Meerapur, Ghaziabad and Khair).
