Expansion

Those who got government jobs in the state on the basis of advertisements published before 28 March 2005 will get the opportunity to opt for the old pension scheme. The cabinet has given the green signal to the proposal brought in this regard on Tuesday. About 50 thousand teachers will be benefited by this.

On 28 March 2005, the UP government had made a provision that employees joining on or after 1 April 2005 would be covered under the National Pension System (NPS). This provision was applicable to employees of the state government, autonomous institutions under the control of the government and employees and teachers of educational institutions aided by the government.

There are many teachers and employees who were appointed on or after 1 April 2005, but the job advertisement was issued before 28 March 2005. These employees have been demanding the benefit of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for a long time. The central government has already provided this facility to such employees.

According to the proposal approved by the Cabinet, it has been decided to provide a one-time option of the old pension scheme to such personnel who were appointed on or after April 1, 2005, but the advertisement for the post for appointment was published before March 28, 2005, the date of issuance of notification regarding implementation of NPS.
