New Delhi. Loans worth Rs 16,712 crore have been sanctioned to women in about four years under the ‘Stand Up India’ scheme. The Finance Ministry gave this information on Tuesday. 81 percent of the beneficiaries of Stand Up India Scheme are women. Let us tell you that through the Stand Up India Loan Scheme, a Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or a woman is given a loan of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore by taking a loan from the bank and setting up a new project or business.

During the last six years, the Ministry has introduced various schemes which have special provisions for the empowerment of women. In a statement before International Women’s Day, the Ministry said that through these schemes, women have become financially empowered and are able to live a better life and realize their dreams of entrepreneurship.

Loan of ₹16,712 crore given to women
Stand Up India scheme was started on April 5, 2016. For setting up a new venture, it is mandatory for every branch of a scheduled commercial bank to give a loan of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore to a Scheduled Caste or Tribe person and at least one woman. The ministry said, “As of February 17, 2020, 81 percent of the account holders under the Stand Up India scheme were women. A total of 73,155 accounts have been opened for women. Loans worth Rs 16,712.72 crore have been approved for women account holders. He has been given a loan of Rs 9,106.13 crore.

How to apply under Stand Up India
