Keir Starmer thanks voters
Labour Party leader Keir Starmer, who is close to becoming the new Prime Minister of Britain, thanked the voters on Friday amid the counting of votes and said that the people of the country are ready for change and have voted to end the politics of pretense. In his victory speech after winning from Holborn and St Pancras seats, 61-year-old Starmer said that ‘whether people have voted for him or not, I will serve every person of this constituency. I will speak for you, support you, fight for you every day. Now the time has come for us to do our work.’
According to the exit poll, Labour can win 410 seats, while the current Conservative Party led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will be reduced to just 131 seats. Starmer thanked all those involved in the counting of votes and his fellow candidates. He said that ‘the heart of our democracy beats not in Westminster or Whitehall, but in town halls, community centers and in the hands of the people who vote.’
