Monsoon has reached North West Bengal six days before the scheduled time. IMD had predicted that it would enter the state by June 6. Meanwhile, amidst the severe heat and hot winds in various parts of the country including North India and the mountains, the mood of the weather changed in Delhi-NCR on Saturday. Dust storms blew in many areas and clouds covered the sky. This change in the weather brought some relief to the people.

The Meteorological Department has predicted relief from scorching heat in other parts of the country including North India in the next two days. The department said that light rain with thunderstorms and strong winds will occur at many places in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Ladakh and Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad in the next five days. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is likely in Uttar Pradesh from June 1 to 4, Rajasthan from June 2, Punjab and Haryana from June 1 to 5. At the same time, northwest, central and eastern India are likely to get relief from severe heat wave in the next two to three days. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rains are likely in the states of Northeast India and South India for the next four to five days. The Meteorological Department said that during the next two to three days, conditions are favorable for the advancement of southwest monsoon into some parts of the central Arabian Sea and the remaining parts of South Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, parts of Karnataka and Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and Bay of Bengal. At the same time, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa will receive light to moderate rains during the next five days, and Madhya Maharashtra will receive light to moderate rains between June 2 and 5. The Meteorological Department said that Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, most parts of Uttar Pradesh and some areas in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan are facing severe heatwaves.

Monsoon has gained momentum

Heavy rains and landslides have been reported in many places as the southwest monsoon, which started before time, has gained momentum in Kerala. Continuous rains in the state have caused waterlogging in many parts and uprooted trees. Continuous rains have caused large-scale destruction in the upper areas of the state, Kottayam and Idukki districts. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in the next 24 hours. Due to bad weather in coastal areas in Kerala and Lakshadweep, fishermen have been advised to stay away from fishing activities.

56 deaths due to heat stroke in three months: Health Ministry

According to the Union Health Ministry, 56 deaths were recorded due to heat stroke in India between March and May. According to data released by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), 46 of these deaths occurred in May alone. Talking about heat stroke cases, a total of 24,849 cases were reported in three months. Out of these, 19,189 cases are from the month of May (1 to 30 May) alone. Last Friday, 40 deaths occurred due to heat stroke in the country. Out of these, 25 were employees deployed on Lok Sabha election duty in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. According to officials, on Thursday, heat stroke deaths of 10 people were recorded in Odisha, 8 in Bihar, 4 in Jharkhand and 1 in Uttar Pradesh. At least five people have died of heat stroke in Rajasthan so far.

Floods in Assam affect 3.5 lakh people in 11 districts

The flood situation in Assam remains worrisome following incessant rains following Cyclone Ramal. According to officials, 3.5 lakh people in 11 districts of the state have been affected by the floods. According to an official statement, all educational institutions in the worst-affected Cachar district remained closed on Saturday. The affected districts are Karbi Anglong, Dhemaji, Hojai, Cachar, Karimganj, Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Hailakandi, Golaghat, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasau. Currently, about 30,000 people have taken shelter in relief camps. Road and rail connectivity in Barak Valley and Dima Hasau has been disrupted due to incessant rains.
