After the results of the Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Derek O’Brien attended the opposition alliance meeting on Thursday. During this, he said that the people have rejected the Narendra Modi government and this is just the beginning. At the same time, TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Delhi and later left for Mumbai to meet Shiv Sena (Uttar Pradesh) chief Uddhav Thackeray.

People have rejected PM Modi and his government: Derek O’Brien

Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, along with O’Brien met Akhilesh Yadav at his residence in Delhi in the morning. A source said that both the TMC general secretary and the SP chief are in complete agreement on the way forward. Later, Abhishek Banerjee met Uddhav Thackeray at his residence Matoshree. The meeting lasted for about one and a half hours. Without commenting on what was discussed in the meeting, O’Brien said that Prime Minister Modi and his government have been rejected by the people. He said, Modi’s BJP ruled India for ten years. He and his government have been rejected by the people. This is only the beginning. We will keep moving forward from here.

BJP in minority, still trying to form government: Raut

Abhishek Banerjee did not talk to the media persons waiting outside Uddhav Thackeray’s residence. Banerjee’s visit comes at a time when the opposition alliance has won more than 230 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Later, while talking to reporters, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said that Abhishek Banerjee came to meet Uddhav Thackeray because he did not go to Delhi to attend the meeting of top leaders of the opposition alliance on Wednesday. Raut said that leaders of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), another constituent of the opposition alliance, have also spoken to Uddhav Thackeray. The Shiv Sena MP said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party BJP is in minority, but still efforts are being made to form the government.

The ruling coalition won 293 seats in the Lok Sabha elections

He said, Narendra Modi and his party are in minority, but they are still trying to form the government and are cooking up a mess. But we suspect that they will not cook it properly and this will harm the country. There will be political instability. Such things pose a danger to the country. What can we do in such a situation. The BJP-led NDA has secured 293 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, which is much more than the majority figure of 272. Out of this, the BJP alone won 240 seats. On the other hand, the opposition alliance won 233 seats, out of which 99 are of Congress. Shiv Sena (UBT), which won nine seats in Maharashtra, and TMC, which won 29 seats in West Bengal, are both part of the opposition alliance.
