Waterloo Bridge was the only bridge across the River Thames in Britain that was destroyed in World War II. The bridge that crosses the river today was designed by Giles Gilbert Scott, Scott was not an engineer, and his designs were actually very difficult to implement. But he managed it, and Waterloo Bridge became the first concrete bridge over the Thames in central London. Like the first bridge, it is also known for its beauty. (Symbolic photo: Wikimedia Commons)
