New Delhi. The Indian team played against Afghanistan in the Super 8 of the ICC T20 World Cup. Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. The Afghanistan captain dashed India’s hopes of a good start by dismissing the top batsmen. After the stalwarts flopped, Suryakumar Yadav took charge and single-handedly took care of the Afghan batsmen.
In the first match of Super 8 against Afghanistan, the Indian team did not get the expected start. The Afghan team’s bowlers did not give the top four batsmen of Team India a chance to perform. Captain Rashid Khan took three big wickets and pushed India on the back foot. First he dismissed Rishabh Pant, who was batting explosively, then Virat Kohli was dismissed and then Shivam Dubey’s wicket was also taken. Suryakumar pulled the team out of trouble and scored a brilliant fifty.
