Mahamrityunjay Temple is a unique Shiv Linga in the world in the fort of Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. The color of the Shiv Linga is white, which changes according to the season. According to Shiv Puran, Lord Bholenath originated the Mahasanjivani Mahamrityunjay Mantra. This mantra is chanted by the priests here. This Shiv Linga is not one or two but 400 years old.
Here even violent animals bow down
According to experts, this Shivling is about 400 years old. Even ferocious animals bow down in front of this Shivling. This temple is probably the only temple in the world where there is a Shivling with 1001 holes. Which gives supernatural power. By the grace of Mahamrityunjay, untimely death of devotees is averted. Some come to the doorstep of Mahamrityunjay to get rid of a long-standing illness, while others come out of the fear of death. Such is the glory of Lord Mahamrityunjay. There is a legend about the establishment of the temple that the king had come from Bandhavgarh for hunting. During the hunt, the king saw a lion chasing a chital. When he came near the temple, the lion returned without hunting the chital. The king was surprised to see this. It is said that the king got the excavation done. A white Shivalinga of Lord Mahamrityunjay came out from the sanctum sanctorum.
