New Delhi. Whenever the cricket teams of India and Pakistan face each other on the field, the excitement is at its peak. Both teams do not want to lose against each other. Former Pakistan opener Mudassar Nazar made a surprising revelation on Sunday. He said that there used to be a lot of pressure on his cricket team in the 90s. People used to call their players dishonest and whenever the team lost, they were suspected of match fixing. Especially when they lost against India, they could not digest it.
The Pakistani team was one of the most talented teams in the 90s. This became clear with the victory of the 1992 World Cup. But in those days, there was discussion about match fixing and Mudassar Nazar feels that the players started living in fear because of this kind of perception among the people. Mudassar said in the concluding speech of ‘Cricket Predicta Conclave’, ‘I think if you look at the Pakistan team in the 90s, in terms of talent they were as good as Australia in the 90s. But the fear of losing the match was always there and I am going to be a little controversial here.

‘Match fixing is behind the controversy’
Mudassar Nazar said, ‘The reason behind the controversy is match fixing. There was a lot of pressure on the Pakistani team because every time they lost a match, people thought that the match was doubtful, the match was fixed. No one was ready to accept that they actually lost to a better team. A defeat against India would have made things more difficult as there is a tough rivalry between the two neighboring countries. According to Mudassar, ‘You can add another aspect to it which is the aspect of playing against India. Neither Pakistani nor Indian wanted to lose the match to each other. We have seen this in Sharjah and this is the reason why India vs Pakistan was such a big match here.
