The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids in various areas of Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. In the Virendra Ram case, a huge amount of cash was recovered from the domestic help of Sanjeev Lal, personal secretary of Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam.

Let us tell you that in February last year, ED had arrested Chief Engineer of Jharkhand Rural Development Department, Virendra K. Ram was arrested in money laundering case. After a long interrogation, ED arrested him. During interrogation, Virendra Ram also revealed his relations with many big personalities before the ED. According to the information, property worth Rs 150 crore was found at Ram’s place. Apart from this, gold jewelery worth two crores was also recovered. ED also recovered a laptop and some pen drives from Virendra Ram. ED had started raids on 24 of his locations on February 21 last year which ended on February 22. Virendra Ram was interrogated by the agency for two days on the basis of the documents recovered from him during this raid.

The ED had told the court that investigation of the bank accounts of Ram and his family revealed money disproportionate to their legal sources of income. It is alleged that Ram acquired movable and immovable properties in the name of his father, wife and other family members. This wealth is not in proportion to the family income. A complaint in a money laundering case was filed against Virendra Ram in September 2020.
