New Delhi. Liton Das was the hero of the victory in the last match of the recent series played against Pakistan. He played an important role in the team’s victory by scoring a century in difficult times. Now before coming to India, he has made a big statement. Liton Das believes that facing the red ‘SG Test ball’ in India will be completely different for the team, which will be a very difficult test.
Liton scored 56 and 138 runs in the two Tests. He will once again be a key player in Bangladesh’s batting line-up along with captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and young Shadman Islam during the Test series starting in Chennai on September 19. The Test matches in Pakistan were played with the Kookaburra ball which is used by Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand and South Africa at home. The weave of the Kookaburra is not as thick and raised as that of the ‘SG Test’ ball made in India which can help in reverse swing.
Liton told ESPN Cricinfo, “The ball will be different in India. It is a bit difficult to play against the SG ball. When the Kookaburra ball gets old, it is easier to play with it. There is nothing better than this. I don’t think it is pressure. We are improving in Tests, so we should be a little more consistent in this format. This is the main challenge.”
Liton, who has played 223 international matches in all three formats for Bangladesh in the last nine years, has now become experienced enough to deal with different situations. He said, “I have to take responsibility now. This is the right time. I have been playing for the last 10 years, so I have become a little experienced. I will try to score runs on some balls that I think I can hit. These days scoring runs is more important. I think I bat in the same way as most batsmen play.”
