Sylhet. After the defeat in the T20 series, Bangladesh team also got a shameful defeat in the Test against Sri Lanka at home. In the first match of the two-match Test series, Sri Lanka registered a huge victory over the hosts. Due to not being able to score even 200 runs in both the innings, the team lost by more than 300 runs. Bangladesh team could reach only 188 runs in the first innings while only 182 runs could be reached in the second innings. Sri Lanka had scored 280 runs in the first innings while in the second innings it had scored 418 runs.

Fast bowler Kasun Rajitha took 5 wickets for 56 runs as Sri Lanka registered a big win of 328 runs in the first Test cricket match by bowling out Bangladesh for 182 runs in the second innings here on Monday. Bangladesh had a difficult target of 511 runs but its team did not look in a position to challenge Sri Lanka at any time.



Sri Lanka registered a win on the fourth day of the match and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Rajita took three wickets for 56 runs in the first innings. In this way, he took 8 wickets for 112 runs in the match, which is the best performance of his career. Apart from him, Vishwa Fernando took three wickets and Lahiru Kumara took two wickets in the second innings. Only Mominul Haq could put up some struggle from Bangladesh’s side. He scored 87 runs in 148 balls which included 12 fours and one six.

Batting first, Sri Lanka had scored 280 runs in its first innings, in response to which Bangladesh team was out for 188 runs. Sri Lanka had set a difficult target for Bangladesh by scoring 418 runs in its second innings. Dhananjay de Silva (102 and 108), who scored centuries in both the innings, was adjudged the best player of the match.
