India defeated the USA on Wednesday in the T20 World Cup 2024 and confirmed its place in the Super-8. In this match played at Nassau County International Stadium in New York, the USA batted first and scored 110 runs losing eight wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Indian team achieved the target by losing three wickets in 18.2 overs. This was Team India’s third consecutive win in this T20 World Cup. Earlier, India had defeated Ireland and Pakistan.
India A1 and Australia B2
The Indian team is sure to be at the top of Group A i.e. A1. However, even if the Indian team was at the second position in its group, it would still be considered A1. Actually, ICC had already announced that the Indian team, no matter what position it is at in its group, will be considered A1 in Super-8. This was done for broadcasting the match as per Indian time. While being A1, India’s match will start at 8 pm in the Super-8 round. Similarly, the Australian team is at the top of its Group B, but it will be considered B-2. Both the semi-final matches will be played on 26 (Trinidad) and 27 (Guyana) June. If the Indian team manages to reach the semi-finals, it will play its match in Guyana. The final match will be played in Barbados on 29 June. The Indian team will play its first match in the Super-8 round on 20 June against the top team in Group-C in Barbados. The top team in Group-C has not been decided yet. There is a battle between Afghanistan and West Indies for this. In such a situation, Team India can face any one of these two teams.

India-Australia match on 24 June
After this, Team India will play its second Super-8 match on 22 June. On 22nd, India will face the team that is in second place in Group-D. This match will be played in St. Vincent. South Africa has qualified by finishing first in Group-D. On the other hand, Bangladesh and Netherlands teams are strong contenders for the second place. However, Nepal and Sri Lanka are also not out of the race. This group is still open. However, Nepal and Sri Lanka will need a miracle to qualify.
In such a situation, there is a high possibility that India may face Bangladesh or Netherlands. At the same time, the Indian team will play its last match in the Super-8 on June 24 against the 2021 champion Australia in St. Lucia. This will be an important opportunity for the Indian team to take revenge for the 2023 ODI World Cup final. Also, this match is considered important from the point of view of reaching the semi-finals. A fierce competition can be seen between the two teams.
