New Delhi. South Africa, which made it to the T20 World Cup final for the first time by defeating Afghanistan, has issued a warning to the opposing teams. Captain Aiden Markram, who took South Africa to the final, has urged his players not to be afraid of the title match. South Africa will face England or India in the final.
After the T20 World Cup semi-final, Aiden Markram said, ‘We are going to play the final for the first time but there is nothing to be afraid of. This is the next step for us. This victory means a lot. We have many world class players. Despite this, all the players have to play as a team to perform like this.’
Praising his bowlers who bowled out Afghanistan for 56 runs, Markram said, “We bowled brilliantly. We bowled in the right places. The bowlers have performed brilliantly throughout the tournament.” South Africa had bowled out the entire Afghanistan team in just 71 balls.
Aiden Markram said, ‘It was challenging to bat in these conditions. It was good to lose the toss. Luck favoured us as we were able to maintain a partnership. Those who were watching the match in South Africa early in the morning must have held their breath. Thankfully, we managed to win.’
Marco Jansen, who was chosen as the Player of the Match, said that his focus was on bowling in the right areas. He said, ‘We played well and executed the strategy very well. We were focusing on bowling in the right areas. Bowling according to the plan and registering a win is a great experience.’
