New Delhi. Australia’s Pat Cummins has become the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup 2024. He achieved this feat in the Australia vs Bangladesh match. In this important match, he gave Australia the upper hand in the match by taking three wickets in three consecutive balls.
This is the seventh time in T20 World Cup history that a bowler has taken a hat-trick. Brett Lee holds the record for taking the first hat-trick in T20 World Cup. Australia’s Brett Lee took a hat-trick against Bangladesh in 2007. It is an interesting coincidence that Pat Cummins has taken a hat-trick against Bangladesh.
Pat Cummins could not take a wicket in his first two overs against Bangladesh. He made up for it in the third and fourth overs. He clean bowled Mahmudullah on the fifth ball of his third over. Cummins then got Mehdi Hasan caught by Adam Zampa on the next ball. In this way, Pat Cummins got a chance for a hattrick. However, he had to wait for the next over for this.
Pat Cummins then completed a hat-trick by dismissing Tauheed Hrid on the first ball of his next over. This was the last over of the innings i.e. the 20th over. Cummins got Tauheed caught by Josh Hazlewood. Pat Cummins’ overall analysis in the match was 4-0-29-3. He was the highest wicket-taker for Australia.
